A Father Pushing the Pace for Research - Page 3
On September 14th, the H2V team will do the ceremonial dip of their wheels in the Halifax Harbour, and they will start the ride of their lives. They will cycle 24 hours a day for nine grueling days straight, riding in three hour rotations. After each rider is finished, they'll go into a cool-down vehicle for protein drinks and food and massage, and then transition out into a rest vehicle, where they will fall into exhausted sleep.
Taylor will be part of the support team, acting as the Youth Spokesperson. She will meet with the various JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) chapters that will be out in support of H2V::Push the Pace. Event organizers will be encouraging the staff of the sponsors to come out and join various parts of the ride.
One of the most interesting parts of the ride - and likely to receive the most media coverage - will be a town in Ontario that is both an office for Sanofi-Aventis and the town where Banting and Best invented insulin.
The team hopes to generate media attention and community support as they move across the country. They hope the attention will greatly increase donations for juvenile diabetes research and that H2V's goal of one million dollars will be reached.
