Write to your provincial MLA, your Premier, and your Health Minister.

Tell them you are a constituent, share your story and point of view. If you are on a particular medication that has made an enormous difference in your health profile, request that they reconsider the listing recommendation. If the cost of diabetes supplies you need is causing you financial hardship, let them know the reality of what it takes to manage diabetes.

Use the statistical information on diabetes from your province to make your case (this can be found in the "Backgrounders" on the Canadian Diabetes Association's website advocacy section), and reinforce the message that it makes more sense to give people what they need to manage their diabetes now, rather than to have to pay for treatment of complications later.

Do not be discouraged! What we're up to here is an enormous undertaking that will require patience and persistence over time, and the willingness to take a stand for ourselves and the next generation of people with diabetes - until there is a cure.
