The aim of this section is to offer a synopsis of some of the main issues that impact our patient community as a whole. We are made up both of people with Type I and Type II diabetes, and there are universal issues that impact us all.
Medication Coverage
New and effective medications are being denied coverage, leaving many patients and families with children unable to get access to treatment that could vastly improve their health now and in the future.National Pharmaceutical Strategy
The federal government is in the process of assessing and formulating health care policy reforms in the face of rising drug costs, an aging population, and excessive wait times.
Other advocacy issues will be added as we discover what other initiatives are underway that serve our patient community.
For now, we follow the lead of the Canadian Diabetes Association and focus on the 'bottom line' issues we all face in managing the costs of diabetes and the impact on the Canadian health care system.
